I’m not that good at all at drawing backgrounds so I’ve shifted gears and have been drawing those first. They’re at least looking better than they did when I’d push them off and save them for last.

It is indeed ball jointed! It’s a really cool sculpt, I love Miss Monster’s stuff so I was SO JAZZED to be able to snag one from her at the con (mostly because I know I’ll never be able to outbid people on eBay :P )aaahhh is that ball jointed, gosh I’ve been wanting to sculpt some unique artist ball joint dolls and that’s inspiring…If you want to make your own I see this tutorial passed around a lot! Batchix links to it on her doll site, and I had friends who were trying to get into making ball joint dolls from scratch back in Toronto and they used that same guide.
Oh yes I follow Batchix already! And I’ve been daydreaming about sculptin an original BDJ for a looonngg time but the farthest I’ve gotten in terms of polish is this head (w/ acrylic doll eyes):
it is one of my side-goals to SOMEDAY complete a doll… so I love seeing really lovely inventive ones
I’m not working with a publisher for any of my own work. The only work I’ve done with a publisher is basically contracted work as a toner on a project. Otherwise, I self-publish.

Weeeee, I got permission to post 1 panel from the book that I toned/shaded! This has been without a doubt a really fun project to work on and it’s basically everything I ever wanted to do as a toner/shader/colorist. So much fun.
