New page! Worked hard on the inking, hope y’all like it :O
Chapter 6 starts next week. Claire and Mac will be doin’ stuff. What kind of stuff? Probably mech battles. Probably.
Haha I stayed up late to crank out a comic page before I had to sleep for work… now I gotta wake up for work in 2 hours. I am what people call “smart.”
It occurred to me for the first time I have a camera (my webcam, hur hur) that can get pretty okay photos of our comic shelf (paperbacks and hardcovers, floppies and minis are elsewhere), something I wanted to do back when this was a meme of sorts.
It’s a good bookcase full of good things. I kinda wish the camera had picked up all the titles, but some of them are small or had shiny/gold leaf text! Bleh!
These photos do illustrate the importance of a good spine design for a printed book, though!
HOT BLOODED COMIC ANTHOLOGY!!!
POWER DRIVE A: HOT-BLOODED ACTION ANTHOLOGY
POWER DRIVE A! is a a comics anthology of shonen and seinen-inspired work that I (Audrey Morris) will be compiling, printing and distributing both at cons and online. It is open to any and all creators who are interested in contributing a story. I’ve made several zines in the past but this one is going to have a color cover (by me), and will be 8x11, and with the help of impassioned contributors, will be totally balls awesome.
Here are a few details:
ANY KIND OF STORY WITH ANY KIND OF CHARACTERS IS ALLOWED. And obviously it does not have to be in a manga style if that is not the style you draw in. It can be ANYTHING, as long as you incorporate hot-blooded awesomeness. Wanna do a robot story? Go for it! Wanna do a yankii thing? Go for it. Wanna do something completely different? Go for it, I am open to anything.
Submissions may be between 2 and 10 pages long. If you want more pages, let me know, I will probably let you do that. There is nothing wrong with a nice beefy zine.
Submissions must be 600dpi files, 8x11. Submissions must be black and white, with gray tones if you find it necessary to use them. Despite the color cover and color interior art (more on that in a moment), the actual interior work will be printed on a b&w printer. Cuz I get free b&w printing baby.
The due date is MARCH 25TH, 2012. That’s right, you have several months to get something together. Awesome, right? Yes! But don’t let the long due date fool you, the sooner your contribution is done the sooner I can run test copies to make sure everything reduces / formats all nice. Also you don’t have to worry about it the sooner it is done!
All contributors will receive portions of POWER DRIVE A’s profits. The amount I intend to give myself is small and only really covers the cost of printing (which is barely anything). I have plenty of people who can confirm that I don’t bullshit about this stuff. As for the cost of the zine itself I’m going to have to see how many stories end up in it before determining that.
Want to contribute! Awesome! SEND ME AN ASK! Ask questions! Talk to me about the story you want to do! Show me your art! Let me know you. We can communicate as much as you like during the completion of your piece. Although my spare time is few and far between, between job, school and making my own comics, I can give feedback when necessary.
E-mail for submissions is okayaudrey at gmail dot com.
And that’s it! Get out there and make some comics!
SIGNALLLLL B-B-B-B-B-BOOOOOOOST MUCHO APPRECIATED!!!
Might do this
Old comic. I like the way the lines look.
Sometimes that man I married makes comics about video games.
I like those comics, the comics the man I married makes.
this is the best page of gunnerkrigg court might as well stop reading now because its never going to get better than this
If Gunnerkrigg ended on the page before this one unexpectedly, I’d be distraught. If it ended after this newest page… I’d… I’d be okay with it.
I about laughed myself out of my drafting chair. I’m still laughing.
how do you draw the ground? what does the ground even look like?? a pile of dirt??????????/
work in … on comix xx x … \m/
I was making some brushes for my own use and decided to share. I’m sure there are better brushes for hatching and creating the Kirby Krackle effect, but I couldn’t find any right away (at least, none that were dynamic—I can’t make use of fixed shapes). The last brush was just for fun. It’s the Krackle brush crossed with my signature.
You don’t have to credit these to me if you use them, but please don’t try to pass them off as your own work. I’m afraid that would just make you look as incompetent as I am.
Ddduuudddeee, these are right up my alley. I can totally see myself using these.
I need some help spreading the word about the Chester 5000 book!
If you’d like to help you could also win a copy of the book! Just reblog this post and leave a reply with your email address so I can contact you. On September 28th I’ll randomly choose a winner!
You can also read all of Chester 5000 XYV online (NSFW, 18+)
The only difference between the online version and the book is that the art in the book has been re-scanned at a higher resolution and re-cleaned. Some of the art has been redone for the sake of consistency and I can assure that it’s a very handsome volume.
Thanks, I love you! :D
Here’s the process behind making the 200th page of Gastrophobia:
Thumbnails are the scripts for a comic. This is my first step. Some people write a prose script first. I don’t. Both are valid methods.
The thumbnails are literally drawn at about the same size as a thumb. In the case of this…
Miracleman is my favorite. Not necessarily my favorite hero, but my favorite series. *__*
mistergrundy replied to your post: I was going to make a post about how people having…
I hope I didn’t say anything caustic… D: My feelings on supercomics is that I love them. Maybe… too much!
Naw, not at all! I love superhero comics — my love is not blind, but as a genre I love them. I also respect people who disagree and completely understand why they don’t.
I am also a dumb delicate baby and when people circlejerk and say caustic and hateful things as a way to high-five each other for having the same opinions….it makes me feel sad. Even when I agree with the point being made.
