Well I hope not to disappoint! But it sure gets me geared up to make these next few pages as fun as I can.

No, because life-long friend implies a history together, and there’s no way you can have that with fictional characters. I could have the potential to be friends with some of them based on compatibility of personalities, sure. If I had to pick one, it’d be Tony, only because she’s actually partially modeled off one of my best friends.

A lot of people seem to be crushin’ on Kelly. All I’m saying is, ya know, Kelly’s got some issues. Don’t get too clingy or attached. Just… just sayin.

I am back in the hotel and I’m hoping I can get a Love Me nice page pencilled but I’m super tired… maybe I can bang one out before tomorrow ends?

Oh, Jesus, yes. It’s like I chopped myself up into a million pieces, dumped that into a stew, and each ladle full is a different character, composed of many bits of “me.”

If you combined Kelly and Fran into the same person, you’d have most of the bits that make up my personality, I think? I dunno if I’m self-aware enough to know that. They kinda represent two halves of me that are always sorta butting heads and shape how I behave. Which implies something awful/hilarious, in later parts of the story.

In terms of appearances… uh… geez. I dunno.

It is only now I realize I have designed zero characters with a face that looks like mine. Hrrmm. I don’t seem to give anyone my nose. If Claire was fatter that’d be my build, and I kinda have Mac’s haircut. Um… so I’m like a Mac+Claire baby.

… That is fucking terrifying when I think of it that way.

True! My Hentai Foundry page isn’t that popular, and I really haven’t had time to draw some nice pinups and porn that weren’t Slipshine exclusive. But mostly I’m lazy. I’m gonna actually try to be putting a personal site together this year, so we’ll see how that goes.

I also want to be careful, I don’t want people to assume Love Me Nice is pornographic — in fact, most my comic ideas aren’t. But there’s enough implied sex and partial nudity to possibly mislead someone who’s made their way over from my pornographic work, and such a thing has caused lewd comments and expectations expressed that I have had to censor as they were very inappropriate for the tone of that comic.

I was gonna put off the Love Me Nice page til tomorrow, so I could finish the last 3 Slipshine pages before I head to work. But you know what? There’s no way I’m getting the check in time for my rent, it doesn’t matter that I finish it 1 day sooner. And every time I’ve missed a LMN update, I’ve felt like a big dumb failure. Seriously, that this chapter isn’t done yet makes me feel so sad. I want to tell way more story.

I got a question on my comic’s website that I thought would be fun to answer here too:

I have a feeling I may not love the answer either way because of bubble-bursting, but kind of important, I think: what are your toon characters’ voices like? Do they have ordinary human voices to fit their personalities, or do they have squeaky cartoon voices like they have the slapstick-reflex thing?

It really varies person to person. I know how most of their voices sound. I could probably list sound-a-likes per character if prompted. But in terms of “cartoony” voices, Mac Sr. naturally has a very cartoony voice that he’s trained down to a lower register to keep up appearances, whereas Mac Jr. has a normal voice he had to train up for the show. Claire also had a very high-pitched voice she’s embarrassed of that she’s toned down using various methods, like voice training and chain-smoking — it gets squeaky when she’s really excitable or freaked out (which doesn’t happen often, luckily enough for her). Kelly has a very cartoony voice and she pretty much can’t help it, she’s stuck with it. Carolina’s range is unpredictable, and her everyday register would sound relatively young-girl normal but would waver into much more cartoony areas if she got emotional.
