DRawing of Chablis I did JUST FOR MMEEEEEEEEEE

bluedelliquanti:

Lately I’ve been infatuated with Amanda Lafrenais’s sketches of her team of magical girls. My favorite by far is Chablis, who has an awesome name and a killer sense of fashion. All three of them are super cute, though, even Sulla wait what are you doing get out of there.

(she would have an ultra-mega-crush on all of them)

aaaaaaaaaAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHH <3

<:3c y’all make me wish I was drawing this comc already! ah!

Warmup for the morning. Just practice at this sorta visual I had in my head of how certain scenes/effects look for this particular comic idea. I’m considering doing that comic in color someday. This is sloppy but I like the general idea of it and it’s going for what I wanted. Want it to look a big more like she’s physically laying on cloud of nothing.

when I try to imagine george transforming i just think she’d get overwhelmed and knocked over by all the fanfare
she’s not a very graceful person, at least not at first
It always amused me how magical girls just out of nowhere knew how to handle themselves in a fight, and for Chablis and “Swirly” they both have a prescedent or reason they’d be more physically inclined.
George? Nope. All the powers in the world don’t change the fact she can’t aim and a gentle breeze could carry her away by her poofy hair. So for most the stuff written so far she… well, poor george. She gets better though.

Wanted to draw my magical girl crew wearing some of their favorite “street clothes” so I drew that as fast as I could cuz I’m busy and BAM, here, enjoy
George and still-needs-a-name “Swirly” have a bit of a thing where they kinda fight for Chablis’s attention for various reasons and Chablis for the most part is oblivious to it except for rare moments when she finds she can’t use either of her arms anymore.

My periodic costume redraws as a warmup. Real happy with how their costumes look right now and their builds. Also changed Chablis’s hair so it’s like her bangs are swept back instead of pulled into a ponytail. Feel like I could ramble and go into detail but I’ll save it for when people actually ask about stuff, hahaha. I have a horrible habit of talking about ideas forever.

Today’s warmup doodle. What’s more shojo than the main love interest for your magical girl inspired comic floating in a pink sparkly fluffy void aimlessly.
… and no I don’t think it’s a spoiler that these two are a couple, it ain’t a “will they won’t they” narrative (i personally don’t like those) but rather “how it affects and is affected by the story through it’s course.” It’s just a building block of the narrative, it’s not a subject of mystery.

The last of the warmups I’m allowed before tackling my to-do list.
Mentioned before I was playing with idea of giving the girls hoods because Hoods Are Really Cool. I’m just not sure they look right on everyone, particularly Swirly in the middle there. I don’t wanna mess with the collar she already has so if she gets one it’ll have to be attached in a different way.
Also I inked this with a really flimsy fat crap brush pen. My new rule is when I’m doing fast doodles I have to doodle with the first pen I grab — I’m too much of a perfectionist and will “hmm” and “aahh” over picking the pen I wanna use. Fart that, just draw.

Warm-up doodle for the morning, thinking about Chablis’s hair. First doodle is off model. I draw her hair in different styles without actually understanding it, and figured it should probably be good to know what makes it look the way it does.
Also one of those moments when I’m hoping to do the comic in color when I eventually do it — I’d love to give her “styled” hair colored bobby-pins and hair clips that hold together the hair at the back of her head.
I think her ponytail-puff should be smaller so it makes more sense its the same hair she usually brushes forward.

This is a birthday present for Littlefroggies. I’ve been trying to draw her magical ladies for a few months now and I figured today was as good as any day.
So, yeah! I like them and you’re cool and I hope your birthday was great. :D

Holy WOW, people sure know the way to make me happy, and that’s fanart of my girls, aaaaaaahhhhh, so cute too, aaahhh

It is littlefroggies’s birthday! That, or my reading comprehension is total crap.
And… I really like her magical girl designs. Chablis is pretty adorable.

Self indulgent doodles of Chablis and another important character from that comic idea of mine done while waiting on something. I like the idea that their little transformation pendants/brooches are on belts.

Well, that makes total sense. I don’t know if you are hunting for opinions, but I kind of liked how the ponytail swept all her hair back! c: It is a good, dramatic change.

Heck naw, I’m always open to opinions, especially since I’m still thinking up ideas. When it comes to all the girls I want their hair to change color and style enough (and Chablis loses her glasses cuz she doesn’t need them ‘transformed’) for something that falls between Clark Kenting and a disguise, haha. That’s also why I added hoods to their clothes, I figure being up close with people the changes wouldn’t go over so well with facial recognition so they have the option to throw hoods up…

…. also hoods look really badass….

More marker/newsprint doodles, this time of Chablis, guest starring still nameless Swirly-hair, from my magical girl comic idea. There’s more of that shit under the tag.

I drew her kneepad things different on each leg cuz I was trying to see which version I liked better.

let’s forget all my WORDS and here have a thing I done doodled as a warm up recently

Sketches of poor still-needs-a-proper-name Swirly for my magical girl comic idea, wearing the outfit she has when she first shows up and the only thing you see her wear for a short period

Cut for story details cuz some people ain’t like spoilers cuz they babies (even though this comic ain’t gonna get drawn til well into next year)
